What is Sinusitis?

Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses, usually caused by an infection or allergies. It can cause facial pain or pressure, a blocked or runny nose, headache, and reduced sense of smell. Most cases improve on their own, but some may need treatment if symptoms are severe or persistent.
